just wondering as ive got a strange noise dont sound good does it come in on a certain rev range ?

 

You usually get a bit of a rattle on start up but hold the revs around the 3-3.5k mark with the bonnet open and you will hear a constant knock knock as if one of the rods are loose on the crank side this is usually bearing faliure

 

I find it's most noticeable at 2500 RPM. If you film the noise & post it someone will tell you if it's big end failure.

 

Start it let It warm a little then sit in car and start to rev very slightly and let foot right off you'll hear a knock just as revs drop. Get oil pressure guage fitted as that will tell you alot

And the moral is: Don't rag it or it'll die. Engine probably saved his gearbox and diffs from dieing though

 

i killed a 555 v ltd a year ago, it sounded way worse than that

 

usually when my bottom end goes, i get a fair bit of splatter and the stench, well...

 

The worst bit mate is being stick filling your pants at the same ****ing time and then trying to explaine to the wife that you now have a 3k bill on your hands and that it wasnt your fault
