How to get more bhp?
Hi all, I have got a 2005 wrx ppp and looking at improving it a bit power wise. Is it right to change to a VF34/35, pink injectors, walbro fuel pump, panel filter and a remap? The exhaust is standard as far as I know apart from the Prodrive backbox which was fitted with the prodrive pack. I am looking to buy over a period of time so no hurry just looking into it so as not to buy the wrong bits.

If your interested got a vf35 and pink injectors that i'll do for £380 collected. You could collect from Warwick and get mark at Thwaites to opensource map it. You will be very impressed trust me!

Ive got a TSL group n BB, Classic style centre pipe which will work with a classic downpipe (no need to buy the extra small centre pipe then and works and fits perfectly on newage), STI pinks, VF35 and green panel filter and someone on here is doing a group buy on fuel pumps so could do you a deal on the lot if you like. I think you can get open source maps for about £200-£300ish.

If you have a friendly MOT man, thats the cheapest way, £350 average for a Map, Mark at Thwaites can fit your mods and sort the map out at the same time, otherwise if you want to build on your mods, get Mark to map it and tweak it when you get them added, a little bit more expensive in the long run, but at least you can enjoy the fun on the way.
If you decat you'll need it mapping anyway. Just so you know

Intend to buy things over time as there is no rush. I want to buy a vf35,pink injectors, filter, fuel pump, and think I might go decat from turbo back but MOT may be a problem. Then get them fitted and mapped at Thwaites as the lads on here are singing there praises. Budget is an issue hence buying used over time and seeking advice/pointers from here will no doubt help save me a few quid. I would like 300+ bhp from this and will just be patient picking up a part at a time if need be. I also think that it will be better to have it all fitted in one go and then mapped to save me endless journeys. Would 300-320 bhp be safe on the WRX as I would not drive any quicker just always wanted to get a 300+ bhp Impreza.

a decat and remap on your wrx as it is mate will see 270.
Any more than that (ie vf35, pinks etc) then you should consider your brakes, gearbox and suspension
Any power needs to be reliable and you should always be able to stop\handle

Or think seriously about selling your wrx and buying an sti by the time you have spent £££s on engine parts mapping brakes and reliability of the upgrades (gearbox ect) ect ect .. You will then need to declare mods to your insurance which will poss end up more £££ than just having the sti in the first place!!!
Oh and hi every one was just brousing good old sc and wmi thought id have my 2pence worth on the wrx uprade vs sti ect hope all are well

Ive done the same thing regarding buying bits and saving up over time, but you always keep adding to the list.... I suggest you set a budget (roughly), then decide who you want to do the work and then ask them for the shopping list. Some places can be unhappy to provide back up for their work done when you have supplied the parts. Indeed, some wont back up when they have supplied the parts. (but I wont go into that).
Hope it goes well for you though

as your asking, PPP is a generic map that one size fits all, which is a fairly crap, a mapper will tailor the map to your car, even as it is now you would get an improvement with a map tweak.
if you have a PPP are you running a sports Cat anyway

As far as I know the WRX PPP is just a backbox, intercooler pipe, and ecu mapped. I have had a 2003 WRX with no PPP but this still feels the same as that but is meant to be 265bhp and not 225bhp on the standard WRX.

as said PPP is money for old rope, a bit of a waste, ive been there on my old wrx, if i'd known then what i know now i'd have spent it elsewhere, i bought my first wrx about 6yrs ago, spent a shed load on it, 6months later, sold it and bought an STi instead and still have it.
