Default Blue Standard Bugeye left suprised A130/A127

Bet you was suprised you could'nt pull away from my ol french clutter from the Roundabout on the A130 to the A127 roundabout, what made it even better was you attempting to wave 'bye' to me when while I managed to stay along side you

You did'nt seem best pleased as I looked over at you when we came onto the A127, you did'nt seem to be giving it then

rallye? i had a gti6 a few years ago (before the wrx) and loved it. great car, handled really well and you could really throw it around with confidence. plus it had a few of the comforts i have become so used to over the years, the electrics, 6stack cd, a/c etc. sold it to a work colleague and he's still happily thrashing around in it!

Nope 106 GTi really did suprise me how damn quick it is 10-90mph, off the line its hard to get the power down, and really shifts as soon as it gets to 4.5k-5k

The french machine must be modded up like a trooper . A girl at work has a 106gti unmodded and its quick for a hot hatch, but side by side with my std 02WRX and I'm away....weeeeeeeeeeeeeee - making waving a valid p155take... Unless the WRX was actually a 2.0GX?

lol check the weight and power of a standard Bugeye WRX and then take in account for 4wd transmission loss and then do the same for a 106GTi and you will see they are pretty equal and 15-80mph speeds are very similar

But then again bugeye wrx's are the fastest things on the road so was proberly imagining it Bugeye WRX's are slow fact I know 106GTi's are'nt super fast but managed to keep up with him while rolling. Standing start obviously different story I would get destroyed.

Sounds like you got a good scalp

However, I dont reckon the WRX would have been giving it the full monty if you were in a totally standard 106GTI

Power/Weight 106GTI 128bhp/ton

Power/Weight WRX 161bhp/ton

If as you say that you were both rolling rather than a standing start, then of course you may stand more of a chance, however..........

WRX 0-60 5.5 0-100 15.7 - therefore 60-100mph 10.2s

106 0-60 7.4 0-100 22.2 - therefore 60-100mph 14.8s

Based on the above it shows that obviously the wrx has the traction advantage to 60mph, then it also continues to pull away.

Of course, this is not taking into what account what gears you were both in, the weight of the scooby driver and how hard you were both trying.

But, Im still pretty sure in a straight line fight, there "should" be only one winner.

Also it was only to about 80-85mph, after that the 106 really does seem to struggle, only mod is a forced air induction kit, I know on paper it should of taken me but it surely did'nt

Though would be interesting to see the actual 10/20-80mph speeds of them both

As actually looking at real world 1/4mile times a Bugeye WRX seems to get 14.5-15secs standard where as the 106 gets 16-16.5 secs standard.

Thats only 1.5-2secs different and as the WRX is 2 seconds quicker to 60mph surely that shows when not launching theres not a great deal in it.

I think I would leave Classics well alone would get a nice spanking off one And just stick to lardy bugeyes when rolling of course and as long as its not above 85-90mph all is good
