Er, um, yeah, it sure was at XtremeScoobies - having a replacement lump dropped in after the old one went bang in spectacular style thanks to a failed lamda sensor, which led to over-fuelling and, subsequently, premature crankshaft bearing wear (a big thanks to my Subaru dealer for failing to spot the lamda on the service).
Once the crank bearings broke up, a few valves got mashed and the turbo was atomised by flying debris, too. All within the space of 150 metres. Slightly shocked - I only bought the car 3 weeks before that. Guttttttttttted.
Keith, SC00BY V - Jap-import STI now with R motor, 1.2bar boost, de-cat exhaust, silly dump valve, a massive fat aftermarket Xtreme oil cooler, Xtreme-modded oil pump, new cambelt, full service, new clutch, knocklink, Silkolene R oil and a 5 grand repair bill. Hmmmph.
On the plus side, Knowlesy and the boys at Xtreme - what a top job, top fellas, real enthusiasts, know where all my m8s are going for their servicing from now on. Cheers.
PS, Knowlesy, is it true Dave lifted the motor into his van on his own? Lol.

lol, had that chat with a lawyer in work already. The problem is proving the lamda was faulty at the service (it was, the car was doing little to the gallon), and proving the bearings weren't already wearing heavily before the service (which we can't). What I can say though is they falsified the road test report after the service (and subsequently admitted it) and have been reported to trading standards for that alone. The attitude was "it's an import and not a UK car, so sod ya".
