Was that on Friday afternoon (4:30'ish)? If so, it was probably me - I did try and wave but may have been too late for you to see.
I usually see lots on the A428 to/from work - a white 03? STi, black 02STi, and some others - most wave back too!

I do see a lot on the wayy to and from work and most do wave saw a nice blue wrx sti ?, the other day witha roof scoop . very nice who ever you are ?.
