What is it with bugeye drivers?

Flame suit on. Rant mode on.
Drive a my99 RB5. Had it for 6 months now. Not a single wave of acknowledgment from bugeye drivers. Classic drivers wave back 99% of the time and every new age I've seen has responded.
Is it a model snobbery thing! Is it an RB5 thing!

Here's today's example. Dual carriageway. Bugeye wagon passes by in the outside lane. I'm on inside lane (10 min warm up). I wave, the kids in the back are waving like nutters, the wife is ducked down in her seat (embarrassed) but bugeye driver stares straight ahead giving it the 'I'm not waving 'cos I haven't seen you, peasant.'
But bugger me not thirty seconds later he's flashing at and being flashed back from an STI7 coming opposite way - who also ignores me.

Rant mode cancelled

Oh well, I'll keep trying. someone will restore my faith
Happy motoring

<WAVE> MY02 WRX.

Thought the bugeye was the new age? What do you mean "every new age I've seen has responded" ?.

I wave to all classic drivers but at least hesitate if not wait to be waved at by Bugeyes. The majority simply aren't as interested in Scoobys as classic drivers IMO.

I seem to get the opposite response, i.e. I wave at a classic and get no reply in my bugeye Most do acknowledge but a fair proportion ignore me

Speedking - 'New age' is MY03 (or so I thought. Mind you I am as thick as a whale omelette).

Wakeboarder - LMAO.

ScoobyDoobyBlue - God damn, I knew it. I thought I was just paranoid, but you are out to get me.

Keep waving everyone.

MY02 : Arms completely wasted due to excessive waving. Bulbs due to be replaced due to constant headlamp flash...

ive got that nervous twitch wave also. You ever found yourself waving at somebody in a scooby to get a closer look and realise that its an 80 year old granny who can hardly see over the dashboard?? LOL

All i say is. Thats either some Subaru salesman/woman or thats some super granny!!

I have a silver bugeye, I wave, flash, and give a big smile to all scoobies, but there are a few that look at me as if I am a visitor from another planet.

I always get a wave and smile from a mint green in Runcorn - don't think he visits Scoobynet.

I wave back if anyone waves at me, but after 9 years 4 days of driving an Impreza Turbo/WRX, I can't be bothered to wave in the first instance.

It doesn't matter what model Scoob anyone's in.......if I see em I wave

There's doesn't seem to be too many around where I live.

Andy - MY02 WRX

PS. It generally doesn't seem to matter what model it is......if they don't wanna wave...they don't

I find that a lot of classic owners are not waving back anymore as they are becoming cheap and non-enthusiasts are now buying them.

So Dan,

If we are not loaded like yourself then we arent enthusiasts. Whats that all about!! Thats offended me and probably loads of other scooby owners out there. Ever since the car came out ive longed for the day that i could afford to own one. I probably spend about 2/3 of my salary on my car and you say i'm not an enthusiast because i drive a 93 wrx.

I'm sorry mate but thats the most disgusting general comment ive ever heard in my life!!!!!!

Sparkster,

So you've seen my bank account then? No offence intended, however this is not an apology. I think you have misread what I have written. If you spend 2/3rds of your salary on a car you are obviously an enthusiast or crazy! What my comment should have been read as is that as the car is becoming cheaper all the time it is available to a broader spectrum of people, not all of whom are enthusiasts. Now try not to be so touchy about how much your car is worth and just enjoy it.

Dan

ok Dan maybe ive over reacted.
so you mean more imprezas = more people able to drive them = greater chance that you wont see an enthusiast?

Maybe. Theres a lot of very happy individuals out there now though who can now afford to drive them - anyway to drive these older imprezas, you have to be slightly enthusiastic. Believe me - mine takes a bundle load of looking after!!

My02 and I wave to everyone, even TS's! Sometimes I've been doing something like changing the CD and have not been able to wave back but that's quite rare. In my MY98 Sport I wave but get less waves back from whatever shape, suspect a bit of snobbery :-)

Bugeye driver here. i am of the same opinion that most bug-eye drivers are either company car drivers or are up their *rses. i wave to every scooby, old, new, standard or modified. some just cant lower themselves to join in with the community spirit. their loss, cos it always brightens up my day to get a flash or wave back. thankyou

Ok, guys. Didn't mean to upset anybody.
I was just saying what I see (as Roy Walker urged us to do in days gone by).

I think you are all wonderful people with a great taste in cars.

I'll keep flashing at everyone until the police confiscate my mac.
