Confirmation required on Essex unmarked police car
One of my friends, who is very knowledgeable about cars, contacted me this morning to say that he saw a X reg P1 pelting up the A12 (Colchester) last night with a blue light on top and using it to clear a path through the fast lane. Can anyone confirm that the filth do have one of these? I am sure my mate is right on the car because I have one and he parks next to it every day.
yes the coppers do use scoobies.
saw it on a programme (police, camera, action or something like that!)
the scooby is used to chase and keep up with joyriders or whoever, they then inform other coppers which direction they are going etc. so they can head them off so to speak.

Don't forget that its not only the plod that have detachable blue lights.
Fire Officers, Customs & Excise, Special Branch (OK police but not traffic) & probably MI5/6 to name but a few.

Who ever it is I want to join!! My mate is still ranting on about how fast the car was going when it shot past him. Who ever it was they were being paid to drive a P1 and that has to be cool!! When ever I take mine out it feels (from the petrol consumption) that I am paying someone else, but its fun!
Often see lots of wierd and wonderful unmarked cars around Colchester with blue lights, once saw a convoy of about 8 cars, all with 1 person on board, which included a passat, saab estate, and various other 'normal' cars, I know Ford's police prep. workshop is in colchester as well so when you do see unmarked cars they might just be being delivered.
I suppose they give everyone a blue light these days!
By the way, does your missus drive your car during the day?, I keep seeing a P1 knocking about in Colchester during normal offce hours.
