Engine Project
Hi all
Not really got any hobbies or projects on the go at the moment, so thinking as I have some spare time and space in the garage, I might start one.
Thinking of just stripping and rebuilding an engine on the bench, purely to have a good old nose around inside and understand for my own curiosity how the flat 4 four is put together.
I may even build a forged one and drop it in my hawk.
Faily competant mechanic, did it at tech and whist in the Royal Air Force so happy I can do it.
Has anyone out there got and old 2.5 knocking around looking for a new home for very little money?
Cheers
Paul

It's a good idea, i'm going to be doing one this winter it will be my second time, all I can say is it's really easy and absolutely nothing to be afraid of especially with your background, i've had more hassle doing things like exhausts and wish bones, just wish i'd have taken the job on the first time one let go on me i'd have saved a small fortune, absolutely bugger all to it, I still don't get what all the fuss is about rebuilding subaru engines, and there is more info on the net than you can shake a stick at, just make sure everything is within tolerances (obviously) and bolt it up, jobs a good un, hardest thing for me was getting the oil return pipe back on the turbo.

Got a complete 2.5 engine from a forester xt.
One of the cam pulley bolt has snapped and the cambelt has come off. Not had chance to see what the damage is yet as the engine is still in the car (2006 foz XTe which I am now breaking) but would be a great rebuild project.
PM me if interested
