R BURNS, i disagree, i would think £10k is not too far off the price for a 97 with less than 60k... if someone wants a quick sale the price will probably sound good..

You get what you pay for!

I looked for ages for "the right car", I wanted a blue turbo 97 or newer. I looked at at least 10 cars, at garages & private sales. It is hard to find the right car!

I found that it was better to buy slightly older car that is in better condition than get a newer car that is knackered?

I nearly bought a car that had been in a heavy smash (I had no idea until it had been inspected!)

In the end I bought a car from a Subaru main dealer .( They have been brilliant). My car (bought last August) is an MY97, reddish blue, 30,000 miles, Aircon, 1 Doctor owner, Fsubaru SH, 12 Months Subaru Warranty, 12 Month MoT, etc.

I started with a budget of £8,000, it was worth spending the extra, just my opinion.

Look nobody wants a turbo, you need to get a jap import for some real car, no 220bhp english ****. I say if you are going to get the english model, may as well by yourself a escort cossie, faster and a better engine.

ha! what you mean no one wants a standard UK turbo. They are highly desirable in any ones books. I rather have that than an unreliable shedscort!

I won a subaru (japanese of course) but the escort cossie is far better than a subaru turbo (english). For starts the have more power and torque, plus the fact the engines last longer and have better fuelling (problem with subaru's) and they hold there value alot better. Mate if i was you i would go for a japanese scooby, but if you are intent on a english car, then go for the cossie.

Dear Micheal
What planet are you on!! Being an owner of both the Escort and UK Scooby, i can assure you that the UK will out perform the Escort in any trial. I have even put my uk against big modded Escorts both on RSOC track events and trails and come out with handshakes and applause. I agree that the RS has a stronger engine due to its Iron not alloy, and you can make the Fords big BHP. But, you have to spend 1000`s on the Cossy lump and on suspension for it to out perform a Standard UK model. Believe me! I race them!
