Default ~£5K DD reasonable mpg

Looking for a daily driver, preferably petrol but will consider diesel.

Needs to be slightly driver focused

Cheers

... I do mainly short journeys, the oil burner wouldn't really work.

I do do runs to the coast when I (& the weather plays fair), and the prospect everytime of £80 in scooby fuel is getting too much

Thought of maybe a city car? Aygo/C1/107/etc...

There's always an MX-5

Thanks, you're usually good on car suggestions. I've been going round in circles trying to come up with something. Top of the running so far is the Fabia VRS (yes, diesel ) but haven't test driven one yet, although I can't find one bad word against them

They are very good. You can get them mapped and they have loads of torque plus still keep their economy.

I did think of a Civic 2.2 CDTi but it's slightly out of budget.
