Question

The mid section doesn't have the cat. I made the same mistake, my mid section went about 3 month ago and thinking it did contained the cat, it was going to be expensive to replace but to my delight it doesn't.
There is a box in the mid section but I got powerflow to make me a staight through stainless replacment. There is no noticible difference to sound or performance.
hope this helps.
