Urgently Advice Wanted
Hi,
I have a MY99 T2000 sportwagon that has now passed 133K and the wife wants a new car.
So I am about to take the plunge and by a nice shiny new 09 WRX. Subaru are doing 2K discount on these at the moment and getting in before the VAT increase will pay for metallic paint.
The old scoob had a new clutch this year and it seems a shame to scrap it - but I cant believe I can get more than 2K, my question is - just how much of the car do I need to scrap - can I strip it and list the parts on ebay :-)
- anyone else done something similar?
Thanks
Trev

£2500 is about right for a breaker, unless you have lots of modded parts, if you are being offered £2k, ask for £2250 and save yourselve alot of hassle breaking a car, mine was broke down to a completely bare shell (and i mean totally bare) then of course you need to understand that it will take over your garage

Out looking at new scoobs today - so if I don't trade in or do a scrappage job then I will get the car cleaned and post some pics.
Its completely standard - never been chipped or tuned except for an uprated Walborough Fuel pump that went on a couple of months ago (was not going to pay £400 for a standard Subaru pump). Engine still seems fine.
As mentioned it had a new clutch recently. Its been serviced regularly by an independent and I have a lot of history - last new Cam was at 90 so its due soon. There are a few small knocks and marks - (wife has been driving it for the last 2 years :-)) but generally its OK, will try to represent in pics.
If I do the scrappage deal on a new one I may just pull the obvios parts first leaving it road-worthy - (fog lamps, pull out parcel shelf, spare etc) unless the scarppage rules say this is a no no.

2500 is about right for a breaker?? not a chance. especially for some oe who has never done it before. IF you broke a standered car mate you will sell engine and box then as its a phase 2 the front end will sell (lights grill bonnet poss bumper) after that it wll probably take an age to get rid off rest. you will probably see a grand for parts iv mentioned. then after that another 5

I have broke 2 cars and got just over £2500 on both and still have parts to sell. And pikey that includes selling a gearbox to you for £50 on one of them. One was a 93 the other a 96 wagon. Both cars pre facelift. Everything sells even the loom

Thanks, - I dont plan on stripping it right down - just wondered what I could get away with.
Either way I have been offered an 09 WRX with 700miles on the click for 15900, not sure if its worth it or not, but looks like I'll be selling the wagon as a complete car, its just passed its MOT so it would be a shame to scrap it.
