#2
i`ve got an OMP group N centre pipe which removes the centre cat which you can have for nowt if you pay the carriage, its mild steel so will not last forever and its a bit of a ******* to fit but the missus says its got to go, the garden shed looks like a scrap yard at the mo.

very interested - as long as it will fit a WRX STi V4 !! (I think UK /Greys are the same fitting ??)
Why is it a bugger to fit ?
Have u had it on your car ?
Good gains ?
Gladly pay the carriage - or collect if you live close (I live in Woking, Surrey)
Please reply.

If you e mail me at wgunn@currantbun.com with your address i`ll send it u.p.s or similar then you can square me up after if you decide to keep it.
The reason its a bit of a swine to fit is ,on the original centre pipe ,where it joins the downpipe ,a doughnut shaped gasket is used along with two nuts and bolts, this gasket needs to be replaced with a normal flat gasket as fitted on the back box, i have a spare so will send it along with the pipe, this works o.k. As for power gains i could not say as i only had the thing fitted for two days, i also had a straight pipe with no silencer on the back box but it was unbearably noisey.

Moz.
Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought the reason for the 'doughnut' gasket was because this is a flexible joint, hence the 2 bolts with springs. I'm not sure if the flat gasket will be up to the job.
Just a thought.

Use the original doughnut gasket, there is no need to replace it. The only difficulty that you might have would be with compressing the springs enough to get the bolts sticking out enough to enable you to get the nuts on. I suggest that it may be useful to employ a pair of swan neck pliers (or similar) and a second pair of hands for this job.
As for noise, I guess that depends on your conditioning. I only have one resonator on my own car and I have never heard an Impreza that I would describe as unbearably noisy. Maybe Moz's setup created some unwelcome resonance through part of the rev range, this can sometimes result in an unpleasant droning sound.

Ro,
Just to let you know I couldn`t send today but have arranged for collection monday, they will deliver tues a.m, its up to you wether you use the doughnut gasket or the one i`m sending, its quite correct, it is supposed to be a flexible joint but in truth i don`t think it matters that much, any way you have a choice. The reason the system I used was unbearable was because of the back box I had made, which had no silencer at all and was just a length of pipe, I ditched both parts.
