I did look on ebay and there were quite a few if thats any help, I just don't trust ebay which is why I didn't bid for one and asked here.

I already have a Sky box with card slot, can this perform the same function or is it Sky specific?

I don't think the sky boxes can as they are not listed on the topup tv site as being compatable, must be ex itv digi boxes. I assume the sky boxes are locked to sky only, I chucked my old sky box out reently but it was analogue so of no use whatso ever anyway.

OK have looked up the model number mate and although it doesn't list in on the topup tv site it is compatable according to other websites with them on ebay for this exact purpose. As far as I can see if it has a card slot then it will work so yes mate I will take it if your Dad doesn't want it anymore Oh have you got the remote control handset for it as you need that to set it up although I think you can buy replacements off the web anyway?
Can pm me mate if you want or can talk on msn etc if you can let me know how much he wants for it plus p&p
