Maplin are a lot more expensive than where we get them from, but they do sell them as do RS and Farnell.
they are 27c512's iirc
and they are EEProms in scoobyecu's supplied by paul and myself.

i maybe able to help here??? i will have a look on monday (if time allows)
512's are quite old school now as i use 1 & 2 megabit
i have a EPROM scrubber and <cough, cough> a EPROM reader/writer
