Suddenly need to buy a cheap runabout to get to work and back (130 mile roundtrip). Needs to be bought in the next week.

Rules:
1) Must be Golf/306-sized or bigger
2) Must do at least 35mpg, but preferably 40+
3) Preferably with aircon
4) Must not be a Ford or Vauxhall
5) Must cost <£2k
6) Must be cheap to insure

Current shortlist includes: Pug 306 D Turbo, Pug 406 1.9TD, BMW 318i, BMW 518i, Merc 190E (the diesel Mercs and Beemers are usually more money )

Note: I'm not looking for suggestions. I'm looking for someone selling a car that fits the bill.

You're right. It is cheap. What sort of MPG do you get? Over 30 on a run? What's the insurance like?

Yes, it would be 3rd party. Trouble is, I have all the NCB used up on another car (Cerbera). Can you find out what the history's like, too?
