Well I haven't had mine for long and it is standard engine wise, but as with any car that has been tuned it will take more looking after than a standard one. Although by the looks of things this one is a 2.4 so at 400bhp it doesn't sound too highly tuned. But then what kind of life has the transmission had?
Just remember that a 22b is basically a Type R v4 with a body kit so most bits are easily available but you need to go into it with your eyes open. Mine has so far only needed fluids, cambelt and the front calipers re-built. But I am aware that any body work will be very hard to find and very expensive, I've heard that front bumpers are about £3500+vat IF you can get one.
Try posting a message on 22b.com about this car, it will probably be known by someone on there. Also do a search about buying one as other have asked the same question over the years.

I have looked into buying one for a while. Been in touch with a few owners and discussed most aspects.
Ive had a look at a few and i nearly bought the best looking one not so long back but i lost out on it.......gutted
some people tell me my P1 is a better car but i dont know why, i just want a 22B

scoobyP1,
I know what you mean, that's why I bought mine. Could have had a P1/STI and been better off financially but I've been after one for a long time. It might all end in tears (body damage) but I try not to worry about that, I still can't help looking back at it as I walk away and I always smile.
I think that mine is a good one, very good body wise, only done about 20k miles, almost standard and runs like a dream.
Good luck in your search mate.

ScoobyP1,
First of all I've got to say I've agonised about the same thing. Currently have a P1 but love the 22B look. Even seriously considered putting 22B carbon fibre body kit on my P1!!!
Eventually realised that, for all that the 'B' is, the P1 is a further development and, IMHO, probably a better all round performer.
Now that's over with, I went to look at the 400bhp machine a few weeks back. The mods are very extensive, the under bonnet looks like it had not been cleaned in a long time and was generally very dirty considering the price. There are various bodywork stone chips that need sorting also. This seemed a car that has had lots of use for the miles and therefore for me personally, not a good investment.
I posted on 22B.com for any info or knowledge of the vehicle with little response.
I would say, with or without mats, Mr Manchester's offering looks a better deal? Also Glenn on 22b.com was thinking of selling his a short while back.
Hope this helps
Steve.

I thought it looked a bit of a dog.....
Mr Manchester's one does look a nice car, just a bit put off by the rubber mats in it. I have tried today to register for 22B.com but had little response with my password. I was hoping to get this sorted before the Rally so i could take it along

its not my car its a mates and if your put off by something as simple as rubber mats then you will never find your perfect 22B.
The rubber mat was probably thrown in there after it was valeted to stop the freshly cleaned carpet getting dirty.

Just a bit of info I was given that may help, don't pay over the odds for a 22b. I was told not to pay more than £22k for one so both those examples are expensive, although the one with 9k miles on it looks like a better bet if you can get the price down by £2-3k. Oh and I paid a little bit more than £22k but not a lot.
For your P1, you may want to try some Subaru dealers, if they are in need of good stock they will give you a price on your car that may be better than you get trading it in. You'll then be in a better position buying the 22b for cash. Just an idea...
