Louder Backbox than my Magnex :)
#2
where abouts are you?
If you are serious about going "louder" then I might have something to interest you - a BPM Twister.
It needs cleaning up but of course once its on you only see the last 3 inches.. and its quite loud, even with a full standard system
I cant fit it to my 01WRX otherwise I would have, so its just stood at work... Needs some TLC, its been on a car all winter and has just been removed and stood in a corner, but there are no holes in it.
Yours for £60 and you can keep your magnex in case its too loud

No its not stainless and could do with a clean, maybe even a spray with some of that heat resistant paint, and the end needs Autosol'ing up - I did it before we put it on and it came up OK but not really shiny.
I'd recommend you to try a louder one before you decide its definately what you want, even if its not mine which to be honest is one of the loudest backboxes I've heard. Its noiser at idle than my mates de-cat stainless system, and when it revs up it really sings Makes the car go like stink too
I always wanted my scooby to sound like it did with this backbox on, but it was only 6 weeks after we'd sold the car that my 80'odd year old half deaf great aunty and uncle from next door told me they were glad we'd got a new car! I wouldn't mind but it was the wife driving it every day and taking it really steady from cold!
I LOVE the noise it makes
I'm only in Hull so even if you want to try it out first then decide I'm sure I can trust you and we can arrange a meet up and you can drive off with it to test (and I can flame you on TWO forums if you nick it )
If you decide you DO like it then we'll talk about some money, but it wont be much - I just want rid now.

sonic,
This may be doesnt look pretty from the photo, but trust me this sounds awesome, better than my blitz nur spec, you have got to hear it to believe it..!!!
And its a piece of art from underneath...i.e a double type back box.

Maybe thats the way to go..

No problem at all.
In fact, I'll try to motivate myself to clean it up for you
That way even if you dont like it I can sell it on afterwards. Really should get rid of it to some worthy deserving scooby owner

Done it, cleaned it off, autosol'd the end section, cleaned all the salt/mud etc from the body and treated it to some 500 degree C aluminium paint
Pics to follow when I get home.
Rothwell near Caistor? No problem, I'll pop it over to you - assuming I haven't sold it for thousands prior to you wanting it, now its so clean

Rothwell is near Caistor, and not a bad run for the car, down into Rothwell, the job is still unconfirmed, but it should be in a few weeks time
Alternatively we could meet up before then

Are you around maybe even tomorrow then? No specific plans at the moment, but maybe I can think of something. Mansfield isnt that far either

Sonic ... I'm actually looking to straight swap my Hayward and Scott backbox for something a little quiter, Magnex is fine as long as I won't get any loss of power from the swap over.

Did you fit the Twister ?
am keen to find out what it was like.
I'm looking to get something a bit louder too, i'm on a Magnex 6x4 at the moment, but swithering wether to replace the centre and downpipe, as thats all standard.

I went to try the Twister, but it is a 3" Bore, and my Centre section is a 2.5" bore, so I didnt try and fit it, although it may be ok

Ahh.
I presume then that mine will be the same.
Can you get a centre pipe to take it up to 3in at the back ?
I'd be keen on getting a Twister if they sound good.
Johnny.

My centre is a Magnex decat with resonator, It does look like the Twister will fit, but as it is so loud anyway (allegedly) then I dont want it blowing too
