May be in the market for a P1 very soon. After a W or X plate car. Be warned though, I would only be prepared to pay trade (ish) value. Remember, the cash is a more powerfull bargaining tool if tou are planning to trade in against another car.

Surely thats what "ish" means.what am I prepared to pay, no more than 18k, one just got sold by a friend of a friend for £17400, this was before I had decided I wanted one. There was also one in autotrader for £17995 last week, this is now sold.

Sounds like reasonable price given that Jap import Bugeye's are available from that sort of price...

My dig was at the accuracy of parkers

I agree with you about parkers, at the end of the day a cars value is what someone is prepared to pay.

they usually have high mileage etc, if they go for that price then what's the chance of getting to it first..??

You will only get one with high miles on for that sort of price..

Ex company car perhaps?

£18K is about what a dealer is bidding for an early W plate with brakes, exhaust etc official upgrades.

The dealer will probably have it up for around £22 - 23K.

Unless you want a shed, I would expect to pay £20K plus... you're going to be lucky if you get one cheaper in good nick. And unless you work in the trade you will not find a dealer who will 'give away' a prime bit of stock...

The one advantage of my job was getting my hands on a cheap P1

Red face

Just remember trade prices suck (!)
I sold my P1 over 1 year ago - I got offered £21k for a car with less than 8K miles on.... I sold it for nearly £26K privately...

By all means pay trade - expect trade stuff - ie scruffy needing something doing ! - You pays and you gets - god luck
