STi/P1/Prodrive shocks
#1
I'm looking for 4 shockers off a McRae, P1, STi or whatever provided that the strut tops are threaded rather than welded like the OEM UK ones and where there is a tapped hole at the bottom of the strut rather than merely blanked off like the OEM UK one is.

Hi Dave,
No difference, it's just that I've bought a Bilstein suspension kit which consists of springs and damper inserts that retain your existing spring mounting and outer damper sleeve.
The inserts have a threaded top that you have to screw into your OEM damper sleeve, then a threaded bolt screws through the bottom of the damper sleeve so you can lock it off. On the STi and other models (I'm told), this is just a simple screw out the old, screw in the new.
With the standard UK damper, the inserts are welded in so you have to saw the top off the old strut, tap the top and drill and tap a hole in the bottom. Not something you can do on the drive!
I'm a bit p1ssed off actually as this kit is sold as a replacement for the standard setup and no indication is given of the amount of work involved.
I thought by getting some predrilled outer sleeves it would save the hassle and risk of drilling and tappping my OEM ones.
