If you are looking to install serious, good quality in car hi-fi then speak to Lee at Sonic Frontiers (http://www.sonicfrontiers.co.uk/). Both I and Cannon Fodder (Tyron) have had work done by Lee and can't fault his enthusiasm or quality of work.
If you just want a simple, better than standard fit sound then it's Sextons and the like.

I put a kenwood dpx503 in my blob eye, great unit, pre outs for expansion, USB input to play direct from a stick (no carrying CDs around) and aux input for iPod/iPhone input which doubles up as a hands free through the cars speaker system.

By no means the cheapest (which is a good thing), he sorted out the mess of the wiring which the previous Japanese owner had made behind the dashboard and fitted a new alarm system for me.
Like I said not the cheapest but a real perfectionist, he carried out fine tuning the speakers long after I was ready to go home.
