Bob is definitely one of the best & my first choice. Probably one of the most experienced mappers around & a genuine decent bloke too always available to give sound advice too.

I've had several cars mapped by Bob Rawle and never had a problem but road mapping is not without it's issues in terms of driving your car hard in traffic can be never wracking to say the least. If you're happy to have your car mapped on the road then Bob Rawle, Race Dynamix, JGM or many other mobile mappers should be able to help you out.

My car is having a remap shortly at Enginetuner down in Plymouth as I've found Martyn very helpful plus I wanted my car remapped on a rolling road, I didn't go down the road Indigo GT route as they're not agents for the aftermarket ECU I operate.

I know a couple of owners who've had remapping down at Indigo and they've been very happy with the results, plus they're a lot closer to you so with the RR they have as well I know I'd be going there if I were in your position.

Bob Rawle or JGM for me, we'll worth the extra few miles IMO.

All of the mentioned mappers will map on a RR if asked anyway. Even if RR mapped it will need to be tweaked on the road to get it right anyway as a RR does not 100% simulate road conditions.

As already said Bob will map on any RR, you just have to book and pay for it.

API are another option, Used them a couple of times and always had good results (Mind you , pat can be grumpy until he's had his feed, or his second feed, I forget which)

Sort of, I had a car pull out on me at 'around' the national speed limit for a dual carriageway and it was an eye opener.

Let's be honest here road mapping and the speeds that are achieved during it can be pretty risky to you, other road users and to your licence.

Trying to hold boost when rapidly approaching traffic you always have the thought 'What happens if?', other drivers don't expect you to be rapidly bearing down on them at warp speed.

At least with RR mapping the map is only checked on the road and any changes don't require extended road time.

I can understand why anyone would not fancy a road mapping session, there are certain risks, but how is your car driven after mapping? I suspect that most break the speed limit on a regular basis unless it's a track only car. RR mapping is less risky to your licence but as the map needs to be tweaked on the road there is still an element of risk unless you can hire a private road or track.

I agree Si, it's more about using the rev range and boost etc.

I'll second that grumpy part, and would never take my car to him again, you'd think after spending a small fortune (1k plus) he'd have been happy to converse/talks through options , after 3 hours sat waiting I was handed back a car with an empty tank of fuel and no instruction on how my new ecu functioned. Not impressed at all.

Absolutely right, a rolling road is a useful tool for mapping but for best results you need to finish off with live mapping on the road in any case. If done in the correct environment and conditions it doesn't need to be risky

Had mine hawk re mapped by scoobyworld and wasn't impressed!
Few months later after reading about bob rawle I arranged to meet him at his home in Swindon.
After minuets of him being in the car working his magic the car pulled so much harder than before.
Will be going back again soon after I've added a few things.

Nothing wrong with using Indigo, but I think you'll find that they bring in someone else to do mapping as do most of the specialists on here. Let's face it, there are only a hand full of people in the country who can extract the very best from a Scooby & they are All very well known on here.

I don't want to turn this in into a argument because it doesn't help the op but your post isn't true. They do map the cars(Impreza's and Evo's) themselves.

I have had dealings with indigo in the past, & as I stated nothing wrong with them atall, infact I found them very helpful. I thought they bought in a mapper to do all their mapping as do most of the Subaru specialists on here, which is perfectly acceptable as long as the results are good. If I got this wrong then I appologise, but it was never a negative comment, let's face it lots of people have mapping done at API & ScoobyClinic who both bring in mappers for the job with great results.
