watering holes in newport ?
going to see the stereophonics in newport centre a week saturday i have never been there before, so i am looking for some advice on pubs etc so we can get bladdered in the afternoon any one have any recommendations ?

Yea stay well clear of Newport 
You got the usual suspects fella, walkabout, weather spoons, in town center, plenty of other bars around cant think of the names lol I'm bladderd half the time I'm out down there! Can certainly be an interesting night

Aye make sure you get disinfected before you leave 
There is a weatherspoons and.lloyds bar just opposite the train station, a pub called the potters near the bus station, or just over the river opposite the castle is the riverside tavern

I've only been out for a drink in Newport once and that was once too many.
It's like the bloody wild west at the weekend, we soon jumped in a taxi and went to Cardiff.
Even people I know from the Newport area advised me to stay clear at the weekend, as they all go to Cardiff if they want a night out. Don't get me wrong you can find trouble in Cardiff but that on the whole is if you go looking for it.
Newport for me = Dodge City.

Murrenger would be the one for me (Newport boy with family still there, although I've wisely lived in london for 30 odd years now ). West Newport is alright - Altyryn/Ridgeway/ Fieldspark/Handpost - but it can get a bit tasty in town...
