Today I've been to sort out a replacement runaround car as my Pug 206 HDi is due to be replaced as it's 10 years old, and though it's only got 50K miles on it and never given a real problem other than the expected French electrical glitch.
I've gone for a Mini Cooper D with the Chili pack plus a load of other factory extras fitted, it's in Pepper White with the black stripes.
The great thing is with a remap they are capable of 145 bhp and a mountain of torque for a 1.6 TD engine plus 70 mpg on a run, I can see with the Mini's handling plus the drive ability of the engine I know what I'll be using for 95% of my driving.

Well you finally bit the bullet then??!!! When we spoke you sounded like you had done you research. I hope you're happy with it.
You could have picked one up tomorrow, prodrive are selling a few, but they start at £250,000!!!

Thanks Babe.
It handles like a roller skate, it pulls well for a 1.6TD although it will improve drastically in the near future and still give 60mpg on average.
I was surprised at how cheap they are to service with the main dealer.

I'd be interested in a run out in in sometime, never been in the new Mini and always liked them.

Good purchase Ty!
Love the new shape mini's! Nice, bulky looking things.
I was going to buy the JCW mini myself, but ended up going for the Clio Rs.
What reg is it? I'll keep my eyes peeled for you.

I really like the Mini as it's solid, and definitely has the build and feel of a more expensive car.
There's no need for you to have a petrol performance car anyway as a replacement.
You've got a monster, the mini would be boring lol.
The D is a good engine, I drove a relatives a couple of weeks ago,
I was impressed, can agree on the torque.
My parents have a ds3 1.6D 110hp and the minis 1.6D definitely has more torque.
