Car got hit today.
From this thread. https://www.scoobynet.com/insurance-...to-my-car.html.
Moved my car out of the drive last night as we were having new household diesel tanks delivered and didn`t want my car getting damaged as they brought them up the drive, and was woken to be told a lorry had clipped it, a neighbour up the road had seen it all and came to tell me.
Looked out the front and couldn`t see anything, so go the dog and went for a look. Hiding from view behind next doors hedge was the van/lorry/tipper delivering new tanks, so went into the road and turned around and saw my car. So walked up to the side of the lorry and saw the un mistakable yellow paint on one of the side drop hinges (yellow as thats the undercoat colour (previous colour) on my car), any scratches or stone chips come up bright day-glo yellow.
So started taking pictures and they got out and when asked said "I dunno", and when I showed them the marks and the paint left behind, and said "I`m a qualified lorry driver and bus driver, and I know if I`ve hit anything, do you want me to get the police here for failing to stop" they said oh sorry must have turned in too quickly.
So got him to write down his name and company address and phone number, and also on paper that its his fault, got a police reference number, all reg`s taken.
Keith Michaels have been great so far, and I have an insurance assessor coming tomorrow to have a look and give a rough cost of doing the work and cost of car. So pics and receipts are ready, as this may look a dog, but its not!!
Here`s the damage, what you recon will be the result??
The paint is not great and they would never be able to get a colour match.
Some close up pics.

The tank on the back of the truck was being delivered and installed, I`m VERY lucky someone passing saw it and told me. Would have been in a world of poo poo otherwise.
What sort of work is needed to sort it??

My missus has reversed into a neighbours car twice now in the X5 not even leaving a mark and not noticing each time, the poor wee corsa didnt fare so well. Luckily the neighbours are great and were very good about it.
When you drive a big heavy wagon, a scrape like that wouldnt make much of a fuss to the heavier motor.

The assessor has been and he`s going to ring me later with his "calculations", he suggested as the paint was rubbish having cash in lieu of repairs and putting that towards a respray, so will do a bit of haggling later.
Just need a rough estimate to fix this, as he said its repair, spray and blow in and a new rear lamp. I just hope it comes to a decent figure so I can chuck a bit more on top for a full respray.

Assessor says £650, so now looking for someone to do the whole car.
Don`t think I can get much more out of it tbh, and if I push too much they may just write the car off lol.
If I can take it in somewhere to get the repair done and they do the rest of the car for cash I`d deffo do that, as then the job can get done in one.
Just need to look around and ask about.

To be honest Jimbob I think given the panel repair plus the rear light I think you are going to struggle to find a repairer to carry out a full respray within your budget assuming the £900/1000 includes VAT. I'm assuming that you'll want a near bare metal job or at least a barrier coat with primer on top of that.
The trouble is the previous paint jobs that have been carried by the previous owner, there are always ways and means but your best hope is to find someone interested in a 'cash' job.
Best of luck and I hope you get it sorted.
