Default switching between maps

i have a z4 ecu and a daughterboard with a new map on it. i have wired up missile toggle safety switch to the j1 jumper to switch between the standard ecu and the daughterboard.
what id like to know is should the switch only be used while ignition is off?
thanks.

Yes. You may get the odd error code etc if you switch it live

thank you for that.

i dont suppose you meddle with 'random' daughterboards? maybe read them to see whats on it or some such, know of readers or software.
i have been using evoscan for a month to log with before i flicked onto the daughterboard map yesterday.
