I've got a set of week old motor factor rear bugeye brake pads in the garage. I'll pm you with more details

I'm not able to attend the Swansea meet tomorrow but could give the pads to Rich or Simon to take along?

I can't understand how a pad with plenty of material left, can disappear out of the caliper

Tell me about it!!!

There was plenty of meat on it, it passed MOT on Wednesday
I had an advisory on hand brake efficiency, barely passed with 28%. Could that be a factor perhaps?

No the handbrake is separate to the brakes.

What I am trying to say is the rear of the car has a drum and shoe set up for the handbrake and disk and callipers for normal braking.

It's a complete mystery then

But this is the 2nd time it's happened to the same shoe in 6 months

Don't suppose you've got any lying around in your "stores" Dylan?

Have a look at your rear brakes , the only way a pad can come out , and I have seen a few cars like this !! is someone has fitted solid discs onto a car that should have vented discs , as the calipers are wider to accept the wider vented discs , it leaves a big gap in between the caliper carrier and the discs , enough for the pad to come out when it wears down slightly

Check it out , it sounds like this to me , if so you need to fit new discs and pads

Cheers Ian

I'm in work most of the day so if you need to talk ring me
