My first tank during running in, 38.38litres @ 132.9p = £51.01. I done 216 miles before having to fill up and this works out at 25.59 mpg. Thought I would have got closer to 30 mpg or was I being optimistic? .
I always hope it's more than that myself, never work it out as I'd be too sad !! My petrol warning light bug's me as it seems to come on anywhere between just under a 1/4 of a tank to last line itself

You only put 38 litres in but then drove until what level? Light on? Previous level?
To fill the tank at that price (assuming you have the fill light on at the start), would be £60 + for a 50 l tank or near £80 for a 60l.
Travelled 218 miles, that works out at about 20 mpg or at worst 17 mpg

I worked it out on a proper conversion table not on a piece of paper so it's closer to a proper figure than what you'r thinking. Back to same level as my light doesn't come on. It would be closer to your figures it the tank was on the bottom line and I got that mileage.

How dare you, piece of paper! it was a bloody abacus
thats pretty good i get about 170 180 miles until i get down to just below 1/4 mark which usually means i have about 2 gallons left or approx another 30/40 miles average driving on a 57 plate sti ppp running about 320 bhp

Thats the level it was at when I filled up, I feel better now. It is better than before the engine was rebuilt so thats a result.
just had a thought, your tank is bigger than mine isn't it.??

You may of put 38L in but you would of have to use approximately used 51L (presuming you have a standard 60L tank) to get the fuel light to come one.
Soooooo 51L is 11.21 Gallons, 216 miles divide by 11 gallons = 19.36MPG.
I've had 32mpg on long runs without too much foot down over taking, on track I might manage 8mpg, normal driving about 20mpg, it all depends on the right foot :-)
When I picked up the Scooby in Penzance I was following her indoors, nearly always off boost, maximum of 60mph real easy driving to let her keep up...put £30 in and still had just under 1/4 tank left when I arrived back here in Pontypool.
on the other hand....filled the car up completely (about £70) in Pontypool and drove quite spirited to the NEC and back and emptied the tank, the light was on when I hit Ponty again..
I think good consumption is possible if you do the "driving miss daisy" method
