I sold my Spec C this evening and I have to say, I was very sorry to see her go. It's horrible watching someone drive away in your pride and joy, even if you know they'll take care of it (and make good use of the horses
)
While lying in bed last night, unable to sleep and contemplating whether I was really doing the right thing selling it, (don't worry Tyron, I had no intention of backtracking on our handshake, just trying to banish my regrets!), I realised that it was almost exactly 5 years to the day, actually 5 years and 15 days to be precise, since I bought my WRX.
Impreza ownership is certainly expensive, I can't even contemplate how much I've spent on modifications, upgrades, servicing, fuel and road tax over the years, however the two cars I've owned are by far and away the best, most fun cars I've ever owned or driven and I don't begrudge a penny I've spent.
I've also enjoyed the scooby meets, although I admit work has taken over my life a lot in the past couple of years, limiting how many I've been able to come to. It's great to know there are so many other passionate enthusiasts who love all things Subaru, especially the ones with large scoops and vents, blue paint, big mods, small mods and all with 100's of BHP.
I know that I'm unlikely to own a car as quick as the Spec C again, it really does shift and unfortunately I don't play the National Lottery, so am unlikely to be able to afford a Ferrari 458 Italia anytime soon!! Possibly a Nissan GTR may be within reach one day......but not yet.
So now my love of cars and driving takes a more placid and sedate turn, with the imminent arrival of an Audi A4 S-Line.
Less hardcore and manic, more comfortable and relaxed. Is it an age thing?

Anyway, maybe I'll return to Scooby ownership one day, I kept my toy scoobydoo head just in case......because you never know

Rich, it's good to know she's gone to an enthusiast, I p/x'd my first two cars and was glad to get rid! But my first Subaru was another matter, watching it being driven away was painstaking to watch but knowing I had €7000 in my pocket waiting to put down on my current Scoob ( far from it's current guise
) kept me going!! Nice looking Audi btw
Hope to see you soon buddy, don't be a stranger

I still remember one of your first mods picked up at API on the way to a fun weekend at the Pod
Oil burners arnt so bad these days, at least you can enjoy some miles without constant filling up
Take it easy Rich

Thanks for the support in my time of bereavement
I'm off to buy an Audi tomorrow, had a last minute change of heart over the model, which has made things a bit easier to swallow.... more details if I get the car
(sorry, not an RS4 I'm afraid)
