Default Oil Fired Central Heating

I may be renting a place soon with Oil Fired Central Heating. It's an old cottage with some really nice stuff going on inside, working fireplaces etc.

Anyone know the running costs compared to natural gas? It's got a hefty tank in the garden at the back. Probably a few hundred litres.

Cheers for any help.

we don't have gas out this way and nearly everyone is oil fired. so can't compare to gas, My boiler is super efficient kidd one (Cost £4.5K) and cost about £1500 to run for the year. Not bad considering the size of my chateau

oil is around 45p a litre, the more you order the cheaper it is. The suppliers have price breaks: 500, 900, 1500 and 2000 litres. you can't order more than 2200 litres in one go as this is classed as a business use and you have to pay more VAT

LOL, if you coming off Nat Gas onto Kerosene Ian you are gonna be in for a shock! We have moved from Nat Gas to LPG and we have had a shock even though I get my gas trade price and live in a space 3x smaller!

Looks like the idea is dead in the water. I'll be getting a place a little closer to where I am now and it's not run on devil juice.

Thanks for the replies, it was a bit of
