Gearbox help!
Hi guys, I have just picked up a TY754 gearbox off of a uk car. My question is, can my ra internals be transplanted into the uk box whilst also fitting the uk 5th???
Any help would be much appreciated.
Dylan.

Hi Dylan, I dont know the answer to your casing question but I have put a thread in the technical section about putting the UK 5th gear into the RA box.
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...onger-5th.html
2 or 3 guys have already come back saying its the worst thing they've done, purely because of the big difference between 4th and 5th.
If you look at my thread in the General Technical section, I'll probably go down the route of leaving 1st & 2nd as per the old RA gears, changing 3rd & 4th from a V5 Type R box and putting a WRX 5th gear into the box for a better crusing gear for the motorway.
The link I put on the thread gives you an indication of speed per gear and shows a constant climb in acceleration till you reach 5th gear.
As long as I find out that a V5 Type R 3rd & 4th gear fits into the RA box, thats my plan between now and Nurburg next year.
IF you do change for a uk 5th, let me know how you get on with it please.

Right guys, stripped both boxes tonight and will be able to make one good one.
Gearbox one - DCCD u/s after using an anti-friction additive.
Gearbox two - Second gear u/s.
Pics to follow.

Car is off the road for the rest of the summer. I've given up on it. Gearbox went in drove it for two miles and the clutch has gone. Looked fine before fitting the box so something else is going on. Can't be arsed to strip it again. It's slowly destroying my soul.
Got some cool plans so I'll plod along with those till next summer. See you all soon.
