is it just me or are there no helping hand subaru garages/specialists in Cardiff? I've got a 'snick' going from 5th to 4th on my '03 JDM STI Speccie 6 speed(more of a crunch at high revs/speed on the track). It's probably just a worn synchro ring (i hope), can anyone recommend a gearbox specialist or someone they'd trust to dismantle the box and replace synchros and any thing else that may occur?. I may want to get clutch changed at same time.

Andrew, try this first..................get yourself a couple of ltrs of 'Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof Gear Oil'. This stuff is the absolute bollox and has made many a notchy box good for years! If that doesn't work out just get a used 'box as every 'specialist' i've used have been useless and i've been left out of pocket and dissapointed.

Ace Motorsport in Newbridge
Or
Dave Coe in Gorseinon, Swansea
I know that Dave Coe does engine/diff and gearbox repairs.
ACE motorsport is worth considering as long as you know who's going to do the work on the car. I've met Andy and he seemed a straight up and interesting bloke but does he still have hands on mechanical contact with scooby engines?
Andy, saw you on the Gabalfa Roundabout the other day, car's looking . I was undercover in a Daihatsu Sirion
Thanks mate, cosmetically everything is ship shape n shiney.
but been getting that disheartened feeling at present due to transmission issue. car will probably run forever as a daily commute, but when using on the edge the gearbox needs some serious cough mixture,,, or realistically open heart surgery
