Running troubles
Right I have changed the maf on my 97 classic to a purple one to match the sti ecu I fitted and the lack of response is worse than it was before, now I got big hesitation down low as well as the limit of 4500rpm

sti ecu into a wrx/uk car the cams are different in the sti heads so could be that the timing of the valves would be a little different just a thought
thats why its best on a classic version 3/4 to buy an apexi power fc and get it mapped
i still have my standard ecu board in the garage so if you want it it's yours fella but you will have to use your ecu case as mine is in my car with simtek in it
i could send it to you if you like just pm me your address and just buy me a pint when i see you next

It's the same on the classics Ty. Done it on mine when i used octane booster for a bit. Left it off over night and then it resets all the timing.
Could be worth a try

Rich,
I'd not hold my breath mate. I'd go with Lee's suggestion, at least it'll be sorted and mapped for the spec of your car as it is now. However if the ECU reset works then I'll gladly eat humble pie

it may run better with reset on the ecu but for how long tho ? if this could be done there would be no need for mappers and every performance mod that goes on this is all that needs to be done lol
still think that with the sti's they have different cams so they open and close valves slightly different to the wrx/ uk cars
it might run ok but you will not get the sti performance that you are looking for

first of all, thankyou to lee for giving me his old ecu board but unfortuntely it is doing the same as my original ecu. car starts then revs itself upto 1500rpm then dies with fault code 53 I think it was which is unrecognised key or something like that. Upto tomorrow a guy tomorrow for him to bypass the immobiliser on my old ecu. More money gone Just hope this works

No worries lee, it was worth a go. Yeah had a tidy chat, nearly ended up staying cause I couldn't get in the car as the key fob wouldn't work, but you managed to do it so thanks for that too just put the other ecu back in so I can get it up pontypridd in the morning and its hunting up and down between nothing and 1000rpm. Just hope it gets me there so he can so he can do whatever he's going to do and i'll back on the road without problems

After months of trying loads of different parts the car is alive! Thanks to total tuning in pontypridd, who reprogrammed my old ecu to remove the immobilizer. Now its back to normal and I am well happy.

So your running larger injectors and an STI MAF on a standard UK ECU and therefore map?
While your car may be running much better than it was i'd still be wary of the fact that your map "may" nead a tweak. I've just changed a few bits on my car and while it's sweet 98% of the time, it's that 2% of hestiation/missing that's really got me pi55ed orf.

Thanks guys Dean i'm running my original maf but yellow 440 injectors and the original ecu just without the immobiliser. see how it goes and maybe get it tweaked on the rollers the end of the month when at the rolling road day
