anyone know about
hi,
i had work done on my old wrx by them as it was cutting boost now and again, that was when they were down in cardiff.
when it went in they charged me 700 pounds for
reset ecu,
knock sensor + fitting,
mobile 1 oil and filter,
fuel filter,
cleaned the intercooler out,
dont know much about the prices ( misses bmw 115+vat an hr @ rydale
) that garages charge as i do most of the work myself now but at the time i didnt know much about subaru's so i took it to them after a mate had been there and said good things about them,
after i had it back i took it for a spin down to bridgend and it was fine on the way down but coming back to mountain ash it started playing up again and after phoning them up they said it was prob the air flow meter and that if i called back down they had one there that i could have, so i went down and fitted the airflow meter and same thing again, fine for 2 mins and then it would play up again.
so gave up in the end and sold the car on.
overall i thought 700 pounds was a bit expensive for oil and filter and a few other bits and bobs.
i know i wont be going back there again, and have heard a few subaru owners say the same thing.
cheers gar

im not a scooby specialist but if i ever get stuck on a car im working on i got a £900 software program that identifys most problems and a £1200 code reader that will tell me what i need to know, and also being in the "trade" for 15 years in various forms i have alot of contacts
ask chris i cleared his codes at the last meet for him with it
hyline charging £700 is beyond me i would have said depending on oil prices and labour involved if id have done the job it would have been max £150-£200
my mate in newport has told me of alot of cars that have been to hyline that have ended up in his place to sort out cos they take your money and run blaming it on other underlying problems and not with what they have done,

from what i can remember they said knock sensor was £97, the oil and filter was £110 and the rest was labour etc etc,
thought it was a bit steep but at the time i just wanted my the car to be running tidy but it didnt and i gave up in the end and swaped it for a skyline.
if it had been now then i would of takled it myself.
did you manage to sort youre gearbox out after ?

Mobil 1 is £42 for 8 ltrs in COSTCO. I have never know a filter be £20
. The intercooler is a 20 min job, similarly the knock sensor, just done mine and it cost £69 for a V5. The V2/3 are only £38. An ECU reset takes 2 mins at the most.
Shocking prices in my option.
