Car Tax advice ?
Hi Guy's as above really, the Niece is going to London to-morrow to hopefully buy a C2 - no tax at the mo, the seller has no insurance to tax it for her.
We have been trying to think of a way to get the tax, she has no hope of getting a cover note by to-morrow though the car will obviously be insured to get her home - what can she do to get round this and get tax at the Post Office ?
Apply to register and tax it in another name, who would have "any car" on the policy
Hope it's not to much of braindead question..............

Will the DVLA database recoginise that the car is insured if she is adding her name to the policy on the day of the purchase do they then recognise that the car is taxed and that the disc is in the post what I mean is do they get the insurance confirmation off the ins database and then issue it

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I don't think you can tax it online until you are the registered keeper/owner of the car , when I bought the S202 I could only tax it by going to the post office.
I don't think the DVLA database is instantly updated either.

Thanks Guys - I thought straightforward would'nt apply the DVLA !! Usually I just go to the PO, but as she's travelling up the Smoke to-morrow, I don't think she knows the reg of the car yet - you know until she see's it and decides to have it - a long way to go I know I think the paln is to phone her insurance for instant cover - bit it looks like her Mum is driving it back home. It looks like it's not the case of supplying the insurance details on line, at the time of the application

Try a day insurance company, plenty of them online now, just give details, print off a insurance document.
This is accepted by dvla and post offices, and i have taxed a car with one.
hope this helps
