Default scooby is home

had the scoob back this afternoon the faults that were fixed are as follows
o2 sensor
spark plugs loose
and the worse thing incorrect cam belt
some numpty had put the wrong cam belt on it and according to subaru it was 5 teeth shorter than the one that should have been fitted so during that first cold snap (-5) when it started missing when warm they recon something contracted with the cold and when i started it up the belt slipped and whent a few more teeth out of sinc this coused the valves to open more than they should and hey presto over fueling
so they had to change the oil and filter as there was fuel contamination in there
but now the impreza is running better than i could have imagined and all is well with the world
well apart from having to pay for it.....but i can claim most of it back on the warrenty but

think they are having you on abit fella as if it was five teeth shorter than a standard subaru belt it would have not fitted on your engine as the subaru one is tight to say the least and if someone could get it on would have bent your valves and have some major engine damage if five teeth shorter and slipped another one or two

but it might have been a cheap belt that slipped a tooth or two

glad its all sorted for you and look farward to seeing you at a meet

IMO they have spun you a yarn. A new belt of right perportion is a tight fit, one with 5 less teeth would be near enough imposible to fit. I could understand if it was 5 teeth too long.

Anyway good to hear your back on the road.

As both Lee and Dylan have said I cannot understand how a belt 5 teeth shorter could be fitted as the standard belt is tight enough.

Anyway the main thing is that you are back on the road again with a flat four soundtrack.
