I was looking at a white evo 9 GT, however the guy selling has just got bk to me with a steep price for it, so gonna let that one go i think.

But evo 8/9 in white.

Not sure i can part with my car though to be honest.

The guy that sprays my car said that he would need to see your car before he gives you a price for the job but it will be under £250

Did the Evo 9 GT you had in mind have EXE-TC suspension fitted?.

Sorry to hear you are thinking of selling up mate, you have a nice P1 there. Considering the darkside myself if i am being honest, just waiting for cashflow to improve then who knows.

White EVO 8/9 is a great choice

Hmm, I am in two minds at the moment whether to get the turbo & injectors fitted plus remap (should see around 380bhp) from Bob Rawle and keep my Impreza OR whether to get rid off/trade-in my Impreza against an Evo 8/9.

I do like my Impreza but the calling to the darkside is tempting (cue music - Imperial March from Star Wars).

Ye, the burble is the main reason i went with the scoob in the first place, and the fact that a new EVO was near 10k more expensive!! Its not 10k more car in my opinion, but i do have a strange need to own one.

Ty, you only just had the scoob and you are already thinking of changing it...................and my wife thinks im bad when it comes to changing cars Tempting though isnt it!?!

Grass isnt always greener though!

I would to be honest and I am leaning towards keeping the Impreza at the moment after all I have not finished with it quite yet.

No, Ian I think you ware right about the grass bit TBH having never really had a go in an Evo 8/9 I wonder if they would be a disappointment as they have the reputation of being like driving a Playstation and not a 'proper' drivers car like an Impreza.

Plus I would not fancy having to shell out loads of money in order to drive a very similar specification / power to what I have already or what it will be like with the turbo/injectors/remap done to my car.

TBH honest I do like the Evo 4/5 but I would be looking for an Evo 8 at the very oldest as I do not want to replace one car with another 10 years older. Second / Third Car? Bloody hell it is expensive enough keeping the two cars I already have.

The Evo IX is a much improved car over the Evo VII, as it comes with aluminium roof, front wings, boot & bonnet as standard on all models where as these where limited to only Evo VII MR originally. So the Evo IX weighs in at 1400 kgs compared to the Subaru sti hawkeye weight of 1450 kgs. The other improvement on the Evo IX is the cylinder heads with MIVEC variable inlet cam timing which improves the engines response and helps towards limiting detonation. Also the IX has a better turbo over VII and is capable of flowing enough air to produce 400 bhp & 400 Ib/ft due to it being twin scroll it spools up very early enabling the engine to produce a large amount of torque. So if funds allow the Evo IX is the better car mechanically.

Also if your worried about AYC failures as the replacements cost 1K buy a GT model version, as these come without the AYC for better driver involvement. Also both the Evo 8 & 9 come with a 55 litre fuel tanks as opposed to the smaller 48 litre tank fitted to the Evo 7.

The Evo 4 engine is acceptable to crank walk due to end float so engine failures are common.

How did the Evo 8 compare to your P1 is there much difference in the power delivery and road handling?.
