Default hi all , little intro

well thought id introcude myself, matt age 38 from the rhondda, bought the 97 sti wagon in the classifieds on here yesterday, train to reading to fetch it and grinned all the way home! had a classic wagon prevoiusely but was an auto, blown away by the sti motor and larger turbo on this car!

looking for a few bits to add my stamp on her, anyone running 18"s on a classic and how harsh is the ride?

also would fitting a 99-00 bumper be a tough task - as tough as finding one haha

cheers

Awesome imports have them aswell as Scoobybits. Both around £180 but they are genuine Subaru parts not copies

Nice pics mate, i love the wheels you have on there to be honest, it reminds me of hours of game play on Gran Turismo.
Looks like a good example, i will keep an eye out as i tend to be around your area quite a bit

You've got a nice base to start with and if i was going to mod my car again i would do it the following: Wheels and brakes, the standard STI suspension is pretty good and I wouldn't change that unless it's broken but I would add uprated drop links, ARB's, anti-lift kit, bushes etc

These should be addressed before thinking of upping power

I've tried all sizes of wheels on a classic over the years and find 17" give the best ride. both for comfort and handling

I'm currently running 17" work emotion CR Kai with 215/40/17 dunlop tyres and finds this a very good set up

18" wheels look nice on a classic and as said should have 215/35/18 but some jap models can get away with 225/35/18 (Two door type R's etc) but I found the ride a little to harsh, ie you feel more bumps and stand more of chance of damaging the wheel if the pressure drops a little and you hit a big pot hole

Whiteline are very popular and very good, loads of dealers sell these, Demon tweeks used to offer 10% discount for Scoobynetters. worth asking.

Just make sure you get the Alloy ones instead of the cheaper steel ones, the steel ones don't look very good after a winter in this country!!!!!!
