My scoob's been hit!
My wife has just told me that some daydreamer in a minibus has hit the rear of my bugeye at a roundabout. I'm seething but she's ok bar a sore neck and teeth.
Just want some advice on which local garage to trust with the repair (I've not seen the damage yet but it's drivable apparently)? I don't want any old garage working on my car, ragging the nuts off it etc.
I'm so pisseed off as I've only just sold my classic and got the bugeye

Have a word with Scooby401 (Jarvis) he is a perfectionist (and I am not on his payroll either) with his own car, the rear spoiler and roof spoiler he has fitted to his own car have excellent finish which is quite hard to achieve with metallic black.
I believe he runs the bodyshop in Lee & Turner in Bridgend and if I ever have a prang he would be my first option.

Thanks for all the replies, suggestions and commiserations
. I've still got that sick/cramp feeling in the pit of my stomach at the moment
. Ah well these things happen eh.
I will PM Scooby401 for his opinion and perhaps pop down to Ian Davis in Pontarddulais on the weekend. There have been some bad experiences with Ian Davies on this forum so I'm still 50/50 so I'll reserve judgement after paying a visit.
I've read good things (on other forums) about Old School Engineering up in Treorchy. Any personal experience with these guys?
Old School Engineering
Here is the obligatory photo...

I've just had a good look and I think the rear slam panel can be pulled out an inch to bring it back into position (far easier than cutting it out and re-welding back. The rear wings seem fine thankfully. So a new bumper and boot lid and it should be back to normal
The exhaust looks ok in the pic but it's been hit flush (marks on it) and it sits at an angle now
. All mods are declared with Keith Michaels but not sure if things like these get replaced "like for like" if damaged.
The Mrs is in a lot of pain unfortunately. The A+E at Baglan hospital gave her the once over and just told her to perpare for more pain and take ibuprofen and paracetemol. Hmmm. I know some people take advantage of these sort of situations but she really is in some discomfort this evening. Probably due to the fact she was looking right at the roundabout when she was hit, resulting in her shoulder muscles hyperextending.
At least it's a show for the neighbours as they know how **** I am about my cars.

Especially as the other guys insurance will be covering the repairs.
Glad to hear that even though your good lady is hurting she is ok, having been involved in a serious accident a few years ago, I know what to expect but at the end of the day it is just a lump of metal (as precious as our cars are to us) but at least your mrs walked away.
Old school engineering are awesome guys, one of our members had his RS Turbo completely restored there, and Another had a respray recently, with another member booked in for a full respray...can't recomend them enough

Well no news from Scooby401 yet Simon but I called Old School Engineering and will be taking the car up there on Saturday for an estimate (even though I'll miss the Swansea Bay Rally)
.
I've also been thinking of taking my car to Alsa Automotive - Specialist auto paintwork and body restoration up in Hirwaun but am waiting to see if they do "normal" cars when they usually work on Ferraris'.
Check out Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale getting a respray at Alsa Automotive - Club Scuderia - UK Ferrari forum for chat, meets and events and Ferrari 348 getting a respray at Alsa Automotive - Club Scuderia - UK Ferrari forum for chat, meets and events. Some good work there.
Thanks for the offer of help Simon
. Sharon cannot drive (cannot move her head that much without being in pain) at the moment so I'm using her CRV.

Wow what a life having a ferreri eh ! I think those stripes alone cost a few thousand, if Top Gear was anything to go buy - when they brought up the price of a stripe last year
If you need a lift back, when you drop off the car when it goes to be "done" let me know
and good luck, hope Sharon recovers well

Alsa automotive have sent me a cracking email. They are fully booked up until March 2010 and suspect that insurance companies would baulk at their labour rates £25/30 hr etc. They have reccomended Continental Garage (small Ford dealership) in Ystradgynlais as an alternative.
Roll on the 355 eh Simon. I'll let you know via PM what happens mate.

Update
Went up to see Old School Engineering and met the owner, Byron. He spent plenty of time with me explaining what work would need doing to my car to get it back in shape. He also spent time showing me some examples of their work; An old Datsun that's received an SX200 floor pan, engine, box etc, with handmade fabricated front and rear wings. A classic scoob (with CSC logo on the rear window) that has just had a full respray. A rally prepped mini. Their ford van, complete with Honda K20 engine, running gear, bespoke suspension, flocked dash etc etc. They are a talented bunch of guys. There was also a freshly painted Mk1 Fiesta in the paint booth that looked super clean and shiny.
As I've been asked to supply one estimate so far, OSE's will be getting faxed over on Monday.
Also want to publicly thank scooby401 for his help so far, thanks Jarvis

Looks like you'll have a super clean example back on the road in no time.
Your scooby is looking really clean. The bumper, boot, rear spoiler had been sprayed and were on stands in the workshop next to the car. Byron explained that the paint still needed rubbing down and polishing but it looked good to me as it was to be honest. Spotted the Scooby Doo on the back shelf
