you can buy the tool for around £20-30 or you can use a old 3/4" socket and tap it on with a hammer, I removed All of mine this way after miss placing the key

thanks for the reply, the nut thats left on the car is quite badly damaged, the surrounding sleeve has shattered and you cant really get anything to grip it,i've tried sockets to no avail

if you don't want to buy a tool you could use a punch and tap it around as it some times works as the impact will losen it or get the tool from halfords but worst case you could get someone to weld a bolt to the nut good luck fella and hope you get it off

Nightmare, this happened to me on a Mondeo ST24 that I used to own and it had to be drilled out eventually.

Had this on my Classic, you can get a locing nut removal socket from decent tool shops or on flea bay

Oh and when you get the nut stuck in the socket like I did, WD40 works a treat

Get down to Kwik Fit or similar, it'll cost a few bob but will prevent possible untold damage.

Brute strength and ignornace is sometimes the wrong thing to do

finally removed the nut today, used an air chisel as carefull as possible, slightly marked the wheel, once the chisel took hold the nut started to turn and then wound it off by hand, thank goodness for that as they say ,the standard wheels off and some gt1's have appeared pics to follow, thanks again for the advice.
