Cool NURBURGRING TRIP

Hi guys and girls. I was having a chat with Chris (wrx rcy) on monday and i suggested that we have a club trip to the Nurburgring sometime next year. A few of the boys there thought it would be a good run to do. So basically this is just to gauge reaction as to how many people would be interested and then we can get something sorted by next year
Cheers Calvin

I am going over for a Reunion next year anyway and may drop down to the 'Ring for a quick 1, 2 as you do.

It'll probably be the 2nd or 3rd weekend in July. I plan to go a few days earlier perhaps the Tuesday or Wednesday and come back on a Monday.

Fast Cat IMHO is best as you get to walk around, eat but is still only 45 mins across, having done it numerous times in the past you can then connect to a number of cross Europe routes, eg via Belgium, Holland then Germany or France, Belgium to Germany.

Anyway, just some thoughs.

I'd be interested in a trip to the Nurburgring and it may even be worth combining this with a track day at the Belgium GP circuit Spa-Francorchamps, rude not to as we would be driving past.

Count me in.

Fast cat sounds better than the tunnel. Although to have a few scooby's inside the train would be cool...

Tyres and brakes up to two back to back track days???

SpeedFerries fast ferry service between Dover and Boulogne

As an example the Bank Holiday weekend this year is High Season and the max price Premier Ticket is £85 for a 5 day return with a car of up to 5 adults on a 50 min crossing.

Sounds good to me. Any ideas of rough costs at the moment as i may get a couple of other lads in on this too if thats ok. They dont drive scoobys though, would a New Civic Type-r and a Lotus Europa be welcome or are we just sticking to club members?

I'd be up for this, hopefully going again around October time, gotta use my laps up

The Ring is only 4hrs or so from Calais, if you sail to Dunkerque then that'll knock half hour off!! As for how much to budget, fuel is more expensive there than here at 1.66EUR for 100RON V Power!! A 4 lap ticket was 70EUR so may go up slightly for next year!! There's plenty of hotels to choose from in Adenau or Nurburg itself!!

Scoobs always go down a treat over there, more were asking about them than the 10 or so 911 GT3s

Right guys, just had a quick scan on the net and came up with some rough costs

Nurburgring prices:
1 Lap= £14.56
4 Laps= £49
8 Laps= £93
15 Laps=£163
25 Laps= £257
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A guide price for a hotel,10 mins away from the track

Hotel Wilhelmsohe.

Single room= £36 per night for 3 nights= £108
Double room/Twin= £54 per night for 3 nights=£162
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only checked the price for the Tunnel so far but that works out at £180 return per car. But as said by Blue Dragoon the ferry is quite a bit cheeper.

Hope this helps to a rough guide of the costs

Calvin.

The Motorsport hotel in Nurburg sounds the best place to stay, as it's two minutes drive from the Nurburgring entrance and right in the middle of town.
It's surrounded by bars and restaurants so plenty of night life!.

I wouldnt exactly call it a 'town' but it is a nice hotel

I hope you dont mind me butting in...

Budget on around £800 for a 3 day trip over including petrol, food, accom, lap tickets etc.

Budget around 4 laps per tank of fuel too

See you over there

or try the Burgstube Hotel up by the Castle - run by a Brit (Martin) and very nicely located.

Burgstube Nürburg - Hotel at the Nürburgring - +49 170 8080256

great value too

Nurburgring forum with all public opening times, we will have to book when the ring is open for public use a couple of days in row to allow maximum ring time.
I just signed up myself.
