Catalunya 172 (Question)
Hi Lee,
Tried PM but your full.
I'm fitting a RCM K&N cone induction kit before my Andy F map. (It looks similar to yours)
I've read a lot about the Nissan MAF being a direct replacement.
You mentioned you had one, I was wondering what the part no. was, and if you know whether my standard Ecu can be mapped with this replacement MAF.
A few of the guys on the Type RA site have done it.
I'd appreciate your or anyone elses comments on this, and any relevant part nos.
Thanks Dazzy J

My actual sensor has 4 pins and one blanked off.
I looked at some Nissan MAF'S on ebay and they look identical except they have 5 pins. Part no of MAF is 0280218005 not sure if it is this one though.

The Nissan 300zx part number is 22680-30P00 Jecs orange label maf sensor, this maf will flow enough air for 500 bhp. Maf 0280218005 is the wrong type and for a non turbo, also avoid purple labelled mafs as max out at a lower air flow 350 bhp.

Thanks John,
Do you know exactly what is involved in fitting one?
Is it a direct replacement or is some soldering required?
Also do all the pipes still fit as standard. i.e. same O/D's on the Nissan MAF as the standard MAF. And the Cone/Air box bolts in the same position.
As stated below, I am runnung a standard ECU already mapped by Andy F. and due for a tweek in May.
As I am fitting a RCM induction kit I have even greater concerns on the life of my MAF sensor. It does'nt last long at the best of times on a MY99, and with the induction kit is likely to go even quicker I reckon.
I'm not too concerned about the power at the moment as the max I should achieve with current VF28 turbo will be about 340BHP. It would be nice to have a bit of reliability on the MAF and be ready for the next stage.
Only thing left for the next jump is turbo & injectors then.

The Nissan 22680-30P00 Jecs orange label maf will require a different plug connector so purchase one with a connecting plug included. The Nissan plug is a 6 pin of which two aren't used originally, your Subaru is a four pin of which only three are use so in order fit the maf you need to solder the following :-
300 ZX MAF connector has 6 pins A-F: Subaru MAF 96 – 99
A - Not Used
B - MAF Output Signal------------------------ solid green = signal
C – Gnd-------------------------------------- black/ green = GND
D - Gnd
E - +12V ------------------------------------ yellow = + 12v
F - Not Used
The maf is more robust than the later style mafs fitted to Subarus but always fit an oil free filter in order not saturate the sensor in oil. The RCMS filter is oil free so a good choice. The Nissan maf outer diameter is 78mm so you will require matching hose sizes if not already fitted.
I hope this covers everything.
