Clutch & Last Weeks Evening Meet
Great to meet a few of you at the Toby last week. Mine was the very much standard (apart from prodrive exhaust and k&n filter MY98).
Seeking some advice on exactly what clutch to go for and where to buy....not planning on going for too much more power so a standard Exedy one?
Also spoke to a few of you about front splitters? A version 6 I think I want; does anyone have any ideas of where to pick one of these up from?!
Cheers all,
Dan

Ref the clutch have a word with David from API and he could also advise on a lightened fly wheel plus they will fit as well It's not a bad run quite a few of us have used API for various bits n pieces from rebuilds to servicing and gearboxes.

You can also try Andy at Ace Motorsport in Newbridge but he has a lot on at the moment so may be difficult to get hold of but it's another option locally..... 01495244555

I found the cheapest place to get an STI6 front lip spoiler was a actually from a main dealer (CVC)
Here are the part numbers and prices from 2006 when i ordered mine:
57796FA530NN - Spoiler x 1 @ £92.63
57728AC090 - Bumper Clip x 2 @ £0.66 = £1.32
57798FA100 - Protector x 1 @ £22.64 - Nobody seems to order this part as it's not needed
57728FA080 - Screw Grommet x 9 @ £0.47 = £4.23
904560009 - Screw x 9 @ £0.18 = £1.62
Total of £99.80+vat = £117.26
The protector is apprantly a piece of rubber that sits between the spoiler and the bumper.

I just opted for the standard Exedy clutch, on the advise of a well known mapper. I was advised to buy the larger of the 2 sizes, as my car had the early smaller clutch. Cost was £200 and theres no jumping or ferocity on pulling off as is often the case with uprated versions, and it copes with the power just fine. If you have the smaller clutch on yours, to fit the larger clutch you need to have your existing flywheel skimmed or alternativly you can buy one already skimmed from David at API and they offer an exchange system, so you can send yours to them after fitting and have money off. Speak to David at API Engines to confirm this.

I'm not sure when they changed to be honest mate, i have a 93 so the earliest Impreza. I'll post up a question in the general technical section for you. There are definatly 2 different sizes tho, something like a 225mm and 230mm.

sorry to go on about these things, but are we sure the sti6 splitter will definately fit to my bumper.... its an older style early 98 one?
also what colour do they come unpainted from the main dealer as I think I might have to live with it in (hopefully) black for a while.
Cheers.

If u have the older style front bumper (version 4) then the V6 splitter won't fit they only fit V5/6 front bumpers. 1998 was the year it changed so depneds weather you have a version 4 or 5, if your bumper looks like Si's in the above pic then it will fit.
