WR1 clutch slipping

WR1 clutch slipping
Hi
A friend of mine has a WR1 with approx 40k on the clock and the clutch has started to slip - confirmed by her dealer. She's had quotes of £1000 and £1100 from 2 dealers in Abergavenny & Cardiff to replace the clutch and flywheel even though there is no judder at all. She contacted a clutch specialist in Newport who said he'd replace the clutch for £600 and check then to see if the flywheel actually needed replacing.
I've had a quick search on the forums but without much joy. Is is essential/necessary to replace the flywheel with the clutch even though there's no judder? And would you trust a clutch specialist or main dealer come to that? If not, can anyone recommend any good scooby specialists in the S.Wales area?
Thanks
John

No need to replace the flywheel every time you replace a clutch.
When the clutch is removed you can then see if the flywheel is ok or not ?
Even then a total replacement of the flywheel is not always needed as sometimes you can get away with a light skim of the original flywheel.

you will not have to get a new flywheel but its always best while changing the clutch to have it skimmed it will be like a new flywheel then and both of the faces clutch and flywheel are nice and new and can bed into each other better

Christ, i hope it doesn't cost that much. I'm in the same boat and calling around tomorrow for quotes. The kit costs £120 so i can't imagine the total cost including labour exceeding £300?

I'm not confident about taking the gearbox apart lol
Called around today - pointless but called CVC for a quote and they wanted £800 +VAT
Think i'm gonna go a garage in Treforest for £420 inc. VAT
