Would this case the idle speed to drop

when slowing down and putting car in neutal the revs drop and it almost stalls then picks up again and it ticks over a bit lumpier than normal

otherwise drives great

It shouldn't do, You could have a leak in one of the pipes or the dump valve has a leak or fault

Could be the idle control valve, these have a tendancy to do that if you've disturbed it. Its usually just a case of moving it around a bit.
