Default Please help??!!

Hi,

I posted this in generael technical 2 days ago but had no response. I am hoping to have more luck here among my fellow welsh folk:

Sorry guys need some advice.

I bought an "N" plate wagon last week but it has a boost problem.

Basically it doesn't have any!! The turbo is working fine but where the car should be taking off at about 3000rpm it just feels as though it's hesitating till approx 5000rpm then the revs pick up as it should do at 3000rpm.

If I pull a small pipe off the boost control regulator thingy on the drivers side inner bay in front of the strut housing the car overboosts but flies in between overboosts, hence saying the turbo is working.

I am not convinced the pipes to the controller thingy are plumbed up right too. Can anyone tell me where each pipe should go in relation to the actuator/turbo/inlet manifold/regulator thingy etc etc...??

Maybe, just maybe somebody local may have a car the same year as mine so I can compare pipework to the control solenoid thingy???

Unhappy

I am struggling on this now...

Had a look tonight at a V reg facelift model but the set up was different altogether.

On my car I have a 3 port boost solenoid fitted but one of the bottom connectors has no pipe going to it. Is this my problem??

Please help

Can you take it Andy at ACE Motorsport in Newbridge buddy? He's got a good reputation on here

The V Reg one you looked at will be the phase 2 engine so will definately be different to yours!!

Never seen one plumbed but from my understanding one of the port isn't suppose to have a pipe on it, it's a vent to atmosphere.
Got a 3 port with my Apexi AVCR and that only uses 2 of the connections.

As Mervil said try Andy he'll probably be able to fix it in 5 minutes if it is just a plumbing problem

Had a quick look today..

I connected the actuator direct to the turbo but car was pretty much the same. Then the pipe blew off and I had overboost city..

After putting all that back together I removed the std re-cir/dump valve but again this made no difference at all.

Only thing left now is brake cleaner in the solenoid thingy. Will buy some in the morning and give it a whirl.

A quick few checks for you are :

1. remove pipe atatched to compressor it should only run actuator boost say 0.7 bar

2. check all intercooler hoses/connections are tight and pipes are split free

3. Clean out BCS with carb or brake cleaner

4. check the pipe going to your BCS it should have a brass restrictor in it to help control boost.

you can do all this with your hand's and some simple tools, it's worth it

Where exactly should this brass restrictor be? Had most of pipes off today to blow them through to check for blockages. didn't see anything like that??

If the brass restrictor ain't in the small pipe coming off your turbo, this could be the cause of you low boost problems...

Sorry for the late reply BTW...

have you checked your ecu i know its a long shot but i had a 95 wagon that had a superchip on it with a bleed valve and i had the same problem i took it off re set the ecu buy taking the battery lead off for the night and it was sorted.bit of a long shot but you never know,th ecu is under the carpet on the pasenger side undo the 10mm bolts and theres the ecu.but ive got to say it sounds like a split pipe.

Getting depressed about it all now!!

I have removed and checked every boost pipe and there was no problems.

I have removed the boost solenoid, cleaned it out with carb cleaner and checked for the brass inset in a pipe.

I have reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so.

But still I have the loudest slowest Subaru in the Bridgend area!!!

I do ocassionally have a red warning light coming on the dash but cannot find any black connectors in the loom to give me a code, I have found the green ones though.

Think I need to fit a temporary boost gauge to see what is happening with my boost.....

Like I said, getting depressed about it all now!!

Is the wastegate stuck open or the actuator stuck open, this would cause no boost...

do you have a dump valve maybe that is stuck open to which would allow the boost to escape just a thought

Changed the boost solenoid last night - No difference.

I have also tried another air flow meter and still same.

My red warning light next to my left indicator light arrow was om all the way home from work today, but like i said earlier I can't find the black plugs under the dash for a fault flash code. Only the green ones.

How many wires are on the plugs and what colours are they??

Thanks guys.

Haven't had a chance to do anything this week in the evenings.

I am borrowing a boost gauge hopefully tomorrow to see if I am getting any boost at all.

The warning light is on all the time now so will try and dig out those wires in the morning, but, one thing I can report, leaving work today I floored it up the dual carriageway which I normally wouldn't do untill the engine was warm, the engine was cold having only been running 2 minutes..... The car was awesome... it went as I think it should do.... Once it was warm though it was back to billy no boost

Any ideas
