I think it's much of a muchness between the current Road Angel and Origin Pogo products really. The database quality is about the same, so pick whichever product matches your dashboard trim fits most conveniently into a suitable space in your car.
I'm quite happy with my old Origin B2, the only reason I'd upgrade to their new one is because it can tell you your average speed through a SPECS zone, but that feature isn't worth losing my NMEA output and thus needing to buy a separate GPS for my satnav. Most folk wont care about the NMEA output facility going away.

I sold my road angel after only 2 months. I picked up 6 points during that time and have not had anymore in the last 2 years unbelievably!!
My driving has not changed.

The only radar/laser detector I've used was the Valentine 1 (both the Version 1 and 2) they were superb, but expensive. Incredible detection range although prone (as they all are) to false alerts.
Currently use the GPS based Micro Roadpilot and the Speedsafe system on my smartnav. Using the two systems together means I never miss a speed trap, although they are obviously useless against the scamera vans. I did have the laser sensor module for the MRP but it was just too sensitive and would be set off by any vehicle with flashy lights, mainly motorway maintance vans and ambulances, so I've disabled it.

[quote=nathanb;7628612]Exactly!! There's not much else that it does detect!!
you still havent answered the question how did you get caught?
i drive between 60000-75000 miles a year
owned a road angel for 8 yrs new updated models as they came out
points 0 i think they do work very well
before road angel 6 points
they need to updated weekly to keep on top of the new camera sites

I got caught by a fixed camera and a van. It was updated regularly. I didnt know it didnt pick up vans but I think its pathetic it didnt know about the fixed gatso!! You're the 1st person to say they work very well that i have spoke to. A lot of people I know have also found them unreliable!
Easy answer dont drive everywhere like a race driver. I dont anymore and I've picked up zero in 2 1/2 years!

Without tempting fate, I drive 30-35,000 miles a year and have done for the last 20 years and never had points. Sure I've used the V1 and GPS systems, and they've helped keep me aware of the surroundings when I've been travelling in unfamiliar areas, but I suspect a lot of it is down to a "sixth sense" and luck.
I'd also say they work well.
Why do I feel I'm going to regret posting that.
