what suspension would you recommend please?

standard wrx suspension, sti suspension?

how much am i looking at?

many thanks.

Avoid Cusco, there like rock as Danny and Cris can comfirm.

Sti suspension is a popular option,
so are KYB AGX shocks with either Eibach or H&R springs,

Couple of use have Tein Super Street coilovers, i find them really good not to hard for road use and with EDFC u can adjust the damping as u drive to suit the sort of driving your doing.

I've tried a few and found the STI 5/6 set up a nice compromise, Stiffer than the wrx or uk which allows faster cornering but they still soak up the bumps of the B roads.

They don't come up often for sale on here but I you can get them from jap performance part at a good price they also ahve a good price ona set of pinks

What wheels and tyre sizes are you running there ?

I'm running H&R lowering springs here, advertised as a 50mm drop but in reality the cars dropped 25mm never had any rubbing issues at all even with the car full.

Si has a good point there, i'd check what the offset is on the wheel and what tyres your using, 18's shouldn't rub with the correct size tyres with standard or lowered suspension.

Only time i've had trouble was when i swapped from 215/35/18 Toyo's to 215/35/18 Avons, although they are quoted as being the same size, in reality the Avons are much wider. I'm now running an extra 1/4 of a degree of negative camber on the rear, no more rubbing .

That's the correct size tyres... the other question is what wheel's are you running ? mine have a 48 offset on them.

Are the Pirelli's curved in on the walls like Toyo's shown on this pic below...

I have to Agree with Dean. Not long fitted Tein with EDC to my mates 2001 WRX. To say that it transformed the car is an understatement. Ride quality is not compromised either. I am planning on fitting the same to my 99 STI RA after christmas. I think you need to budget for about £1000 inc. EDC.
