Default Recommend me a Subaru specialist near Caerphilly?

I am moving to South Wales this week, specifically Pontllanfraith(sp?), Blackwood, just north of Caerphilly. Also the car is due a service and has a small fault I'd like investigating.

The catch is it's a Legacy B4 RSK and a lot of supposed Subaru experts don't have a clue when faced with a twin-turbo.

Can anyone here recommend me a suitable place to get the work done? I saw tons of scoobys around there today, so there must be someone, right?

Well, that's quite close

Are they just Scoobys, or would you recommend that we get my GFs 200SX looked after by them too?

Andy, I do believe is an ex Prodrive mechanic, dont ask me where I heard that from and dont hold me to that, but he is very very highly recommended with all the guys on here, most of them will only use Andy, he's a top bloke.

Andy it is then )

Since you live in Pontllanfraith, can you tell me what the area is like as we had to move quite suddenly. Do I need to lock up the car and chain it to the wall each night?

I ask because I actually left the Legacy on the driveway of the new house on Saturday, will it still be there on Tuesday?

Hey Lum !!

Nice to se you moved !!

I was born and Bred in Pont (25 years - Now living in Caerphilly - Would move back at the drop of a hat , but the missis won't as she's a Caerphilly girl )

My mother and sister still live there

What part did you move to...... don't suppose you want to advertise that bit....

MOST of it is fine (or used to be....) It has grown ALOT since I moved away ....

It used to be that you would know everyone you walked past in the streets.... or at the very least someone that knew them..

he he he

There is a BIG Local SXOC following - and a few of the boys have a gararge not too far away from you......

You may already know some of them ........ If you don't I can make the intro's....

I dont think Andy knows too much about the twin turbo to be honest. Colin had a fault on his RS twin turbo and Andy had it there a few times but could not sort it. These cars were never made for the UK market so i think you will strugle to get anyone local who knows anything about it.

What is the problem with it anyhow?

Apparently we're on the edge of the council estate. Of course the letting agency bint only decided to mention that part after we'd handed over 900 notes in deposit and rent. I'm sure if you go for a wander you'll be able to find my Legacy parked up in the driveway. I imagine it will be safe as we had to remove and refit the driveway gates to get the thing in since no-one had noticed they were padlocked shut. We are bringing the angle grinder tomorrow, so problem solved

So Andy doesn't know TT Legacies? Bugger. The one good thing about Aylesbury was DSA who did know them rather well. That said the problem I'm having is brake related and I have WRX fronts anyway. How much does Andy charge in labour, and do I have to book 3 years in advance?

I could probably fix the brakes myself given time, but I don't have time, immediately after finishing moving, I go back to work and will probably have a backlog of site visits that need urgent attention, so I kinda need working brakes before a week Wednesday

Well, for the moment it's just an oil and filter service + safety check, oh and new front brakes so I'm sure it would be fine even if being done by a person who has never seen any car other than an Impreza ever in their lives. Especially since I have WRX 4-pots on the front anyway.

Booked in for Friday, was supposed to be Tuesday, but I couldn't find the place monday night.. found the road, but not the building.

I think Wales will take a little bit of getting used to, my GFs reaction of "that's a road?!?" as I went down the side street past ACE (not knowing it was ACE) kind of sums up the difference.

I do rather like the place though. Aylesbury was a dump
