am i doing right thing was looking at just changing the downpipe for a decat in the search for a little more noise but after speaking to them this is what was recomended

depends on what you are after - if you want more noise why not just change the backbox?

if your looking to go over 350bhp then the 3" pipe will help as will having a complete system rather than different makes thrown together.

If you do decat then you will need a remap which will cost upwards of £300 on top of the cost of the system

i went in there with intensions of looking for a decat downpipe but after talking to them they suggested a 3" system from sports cat back similar to blitz.got carried away after seeing thier big shiney pipes, but now not so sure.not going to be running big power maybe 300 with other mods
maybe just back box
maybe just decat downpipe
gonna speak to charlie later

even if you just change the downpipe you will need it mapped - sounds to me that a simple change in backbox is all you need. If you want loud talk to Dannyboy007....

MY07STI had the just the back box changed to give it some noise
the guys at longlife did it and its all ok
they do seem to get excited with subaru and suggest that you fit a full 3" pipe all the through

just remember if you doing a lot of miles in car and want noise take some headache tablets with you

but as Rob says you will need remap once you change downpipe

We are only talking about a full system, ie cats and all. On a classic you don't have to remap but in order to get the most out of the car you opt for a remap but on a new age you MAY encounter boost creep and/or spiking which isn't good for the engine.

Have a search on here and you'll find loads of threads about it.

If you change any exhoust component remap is +, but if you change cat component exhaust remap is "MUST DO". You don't need to do remap for only center section and backbox and you're safe. It's about newage models, especialy MY06 and MY07.

i've never looked into what does/doesn' need to be done on a classic as i've never owned one.

For newage cars i did a lot of research before the most recent set of mods. In Bob R's own words changing cats etc on a newage would cause overboost and spiking issues. Not something i would be happy drvinig around with.

Just changed my PPP system to a Buddy club and the difference is wicked. Not sure about the bhp increase (sport cat going on on Tuesday) but for the note it's worth the change

job done chris went straight down, hes open all day saturday by the way
nice to see you all up andys maybe we could have a meet there when he gets into his new place if its big enough

as far as the exhaust goes i had 3" from the sports cat downpipe back and im very happy, it responds quicker, revs higher, and i noticed if you sit at 70 on the motoway the revs have dropped, so it should get more mpg and better still the sound
